Travel Photography – Europe 2009

•September 30, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Finally I found time to update my Blog. I come back from O/S three weeks ago and having 20 GB photos takes time and patience to do selection and post processing.

Most of images look very good on 3” screen on digital camera but once when I start looking at on 22” screen on my PC I saw that they don’t look so much appealing and worth of working on them.

But there is one rule which I follow “ ..Leave images for some time in folder and look at them later… “

I spend most of time in East and West Europe including Croatia, Serbia, UK and some other countries and I must say that I enjoy having my camera with me and trying to capture as much possible images. I tried to do some “street photography” but I realised that there is lack of knowledge for me for this type photography so I tried HDR, landscape and portraits…so bellow are some of those images. It sucks having ideal spot for night photography and not having tripod handy and that what happened to me, I left my tripod at the airplane..

EXIF information about images is available once when you click on image and this will guide you to the main gallery with larger images and EXIF info.

Enjoy…

…Old Tram Warehouse…

•May 6, 2009 • 5 Comments

It was Saturday the 2-May-2009 at 5AM when I met my friend Marc Alexander at Glebe to take sunrise shots of the ANZAC bridge. Well the ANZAC bridge was only a pretext of what was about to come: the photo session at the old Glebe Tram Warehouse.

Thanks to Michael Lynch who located this place we decided to go to the warehouse, this also included Tim and Ian.

Entering the premises was trickier than I had anticipated. All the doors where bolted or welded together and the windows were barricaded. However we did find a way to enter. A small window, the size of a medium microwave, we managed to get through but I did manage to scratch my bold head on a rusted wire, my only concern was “what if I get tetanus!!” In spite of this upon scoping the interior of the warehouse “halleluiah I was healed”.

The heart of this place inspired me so much. There was an abundant variety of graffiti all around us on the walls, trams, everywhere!!! Then we started to take photos, my idea was to do “FC” movie scene, this was going to include Tim, Marc, Ian and Mick. It did not happen, cause we were asked to leave this old tram warehouse before I could take the shots.

As you can see from the photos there were so many colours to capture, so many details and unfortunately there were only a few options for me to take HDR or Panograph photos.

Lighting in the warehouse was superb; the only problem was the dust so changing the lenses had to be a meticulous process.

Most of work is done with a Canon 40D and Canon L lens 17-40 mm. This being my favorite lens for landscaping. I tried to use Canon 50 mm F1.8 lens but with so much detail on the walls and trams I realised that it would be close to impossible to capture crisp and clean shots with this type of lens.

This old tram warehouse is a treat for any photographer and one of the rules of the photography is; “a photographer needs to go back to the same location a few times”.

That’s all folks…
